Are you looking for a New Carpet in Chicago? There are several types of carpet available and they all have different textures, stain resistance, and light reflection. The choice you make should depend on your style, how often you like to clean, and how much foot traffic the room gets. Check out all styles of carpet before making a decision.

Saxony

Saxony is the most common carpet style and has been around for decades. It is simply cut strands that stand up straight like a mowed lawn. They strands do not bend and do not spread out a little at the top. They are good for living rooms where there is a medium amount of foot traffic because you can see footprints after someone has walked through. They prints disappear with a sweep of the hand or after a short amount of time. When you vacuum a saxony carpet, you will see the colors change from light to dark or vice-versa.

Textured

Textured carpet is like saxony except that the strands are twisted just slightly. The twisting makes the carpet a little bit firmer and less likely to leave footprints. It also makes the carpet less soft than saxony. Textured carpet is great for heavy traffic living rooms and for people that hate to clean the floors. Textured has become the household norm today thanks to easy cleaning requirements.

Plush

Plush, or saxony plush, is the same as saxony carpet except that the strands are doubled or tripled. Each strand has 700 or more fibers. This makes the carpet soft and bouncy. It’s the kind of carpet that you bury your bare toes into like the sand at the beach. The problem with such luxurious carpet is that it stains easy, is difficult to clean, and leaves deep footprints. Save this carpet for the rooms that have little foot traffic, and keep the kids away.

Shag

The strands in shag carpet, also called frieze, are all twisted tightly around each other. It’s like thousands of tiny kinky knots. You stick your hand in the carpet and always snag it on the shag. Shag carpet is fun, only leaves slight footprints, and is easy to clean. It just isn’t very soft and it’s easy to catch your toes in it.
