Whether you’re a business owner or just a concerned patron, you might wonder whether you should grab a towel when you’re leaving the restroom, or if you should dry your hands with the air dryer. This may seem like a simple matter, but most people have their own preference when it comes to drying their hands, and some choose not to dry their hands at all.

In truth, the hand-washing habit, and the way public restrooms support proper hygiene are extremely important to the overall health of people in your community. There’s no better way to prevent the spread of dangerous germs than to keep our hands clean. This is certainly an important issue.

Hand Dryers Help the Environment

Restroom hand dryers are without a doubt, better for the environment. Deforestation is a problem that is not slowing down. Although we could all do a part by using fewer paper items, it’s been nearly impossible to influence others to take serious action. If you have a towel dispenser, your customers are likely to use much more paper than they really need.

Each customer that goes through your restroom is further complicating this very important environmental issue. Imagine the positive effect it would have if all businesses stopped using paper towels? Just having a hand dryer as an option in your restroom can help to make a difference.

Hand Dryers Are Cheaper, a Lot Cheaper

It’s easy to see how restroom hand dryers can be much more cost effective. Your customers are likely to use much more paper than they need if towel dispensers are available to them. That means replacing paper towel rolls several times throughout any given day. It’s unfortunate but true that many customers will not be careful about how much paper they use. These dispensers may require maintenance as well. Have you ever been in a public restroom where the towel dispenser was jammed?

Hand dryers only require an initial investment. Once purchased, you don’t have to restock the dryer, and it’s very rare that you’ll need to have it repaired or replaced.

Hand Dryers Can Be More Hygienic

Obviously, how clean one’s hands get is a matter that ultimately depends on how an individual uses a hand dryer or towels. Hand dryers have the potential to do a better job of drying hands, however. With restroom hand dryers, the hot air blows into all of the many crevices in an individual’s skin, drying out all of those areas. Germs are ultimately spread through moisture in most cases, and studies have shown that it’s very important for one to dry their hands completely for a good hand washing to be effective.

Towel dispensers can also be very problematic for another reason. Although there are automatic towel dispensers, many people end up touching the dispenser, even if it reliably dispenses the towel as it should. This is just another way that germs can be spread.
