If you are interested in taking your CPA exam, you will definitely need to take some study classes. Many colleges and universities offer these classes at their locations, but it can be difficult to get to the college with the price of gasoline and your schedule. There are many available online review classes, as well, but it can be difficult to decide on which on you will want.
Type of Class
It is important, when searching for an online review class, to find out what you are getting. There are four types of classes that you will need to study up for in order to pass the CPA examination. These include Auditing, Regulations, Business Environment & Concepts, and Financial Accounting & Reporting. Many other study courses will only provide you with one of these courses and charge separately for all four exams. However, there are a slight few that will offer all four classes for a low fee.
You should make sure that you receive an online program that has all four reviews, as you will need them anyway.
What You Get
Online courses are usually all done on the computer and you won’t need to go into a classroom at all. However, not all online courses are the same. Many will provide you with the reading material in PDF format but will give you nothing else, other than some sample paper tests.
Look for an online study program that provides you with review books, instructional videos, an audio review and some flashcards (study cards). You should also get the best testing software available, and it should all be included with one fair price.
Options
Make sure that you can print out the review cards (if provided) and the review book. It may be more helpful to be able to highlight areas of text and print off and cut out the review cards so that it is easier to learn. When using PDF format, printing is allowed, but some companies will use their own specific software, which may have printing disabled. This allows them to charge extra for a printed version of the text.
However, most companies do not do this because they want people to be able to use the information how they see fit. It is best to ensure that the review course you choose has everything you want, free updates, and more.
