On the mainland, 825 properties sold in 2012. The average price was $96,956, which was 93 % of the asking price. Sales of beachfront properties rose by 1.7%, with mainland properties increasing by more than 3%.

Forecast
Many real estate experts expect modest increases in home sales in 2013. This is most areas of Florida are expect to recover nicely after a slump earlier this year. However, inventory needs to increases, especially in the lower price ranges, in order to keep home buyer activity going strong. This will cause the housing market to recover nicely and lead to higher appreciation rates on Daytona Beach homes.
