When considering EMC amplifier and antenna rentals, it pays to go into the process with a deeper understanding of the different configurations available for this electronic equipment. Consider four basic types of EMC antenna so you know which type to rent to meet your existing needs.
The most common is a single-element unit called a biconical antenna. Experts say these are the most commonly misused. Essentially, a biconical antenna is a broad-bandwidth device constructed with two conical conductive parts. They nearly touch at their points. They are used for EMI (electromagnetic interference) testing, but also emissions testing.
Another configuration of the EMC antenna is the multi-element design. The most common kind is called a Log Periodic. These perform well across all wide bandwidths, making it an effective instrument for EMC testing. There is no theoretical limit of the frequency coverage it can handle. There will be some cable and/or transmission line loss, however.
The third kind of EMC antenna is the horn and ridged horn antenna. They have higher gain. This makes them popular for military standard testing. Horned and double-ridged horns combine high gain with excellent broadband coverage.
The fourth kind of EMC antenna are those that make use of parabolic reflectors. They have remarkably high gain and narrow beam width. They are often used for the reception of weak microwave signals because of their high efficiency and ease of fabrication.
With this bare-bones introduction of the basic types of EMC antennas, consider the benefits of EMC amplifier and antenna rental as opposed to purchasing. Rental allows you to test equipment without a large outlay of cash. It also enables you to try different brands before you buy.
Renting allows you to meet your short-term testing requirements or you can increase your testing capabilities on a preexisting system.
