There is a wide range of equipment that is in common uses when making popcorn for both home and commercial purposes; this includes the popping machines as well as all the accessories. For the home, there are many compact poppers available. . Many people who have built a home theatre are inclined to invest in commercial options as it adds to the aura of their theatre. Popcorn poppers are either highly polished stainless steel machines which are semi automated or retro in style, they are designed to sit on a counter or be part of a popcorn cart.

Street vendors almost always use a popcorn cart; these carts have two large wheels and a pair of legs and handles at the end opposite the wheels. In many cases the cart has a hole in the roof cover which allows the vendor to add popcorn kernels to a round metal pan. This pan is known as the “kettle”, as the corn pops, it overflows the kettle and lands in a glass enclosed central portion of the cart. There are also commercial popcorn makers that operate in the same manner but they are built to sit on a countertop or other flat surface; they are basically a popcorn cart without wheels.

Modern popcorn poppers utilize a lot of stainless steel and often tend to use black paint highlights. This is not so with those which are designed to appear as an old fashioned cart, these usually are painted in red and yellow, have a lot of curve details and will invariably have antique letting spelling our “Popcorn” somewhere on the sides.

Because popcorn is normally eaten with seasonings, the carts are designed to accommodate salt shakers, shake-on seasoning bottles and a butter pump.
