Everyone loves a party, but it can be difficult to select appropriate venues on Long Island. The first thing you should consider is the different types of venues available. A venue is simply a place where your party is held and can include many amenities, such as catering, hotels, bars and more.

When most people think of a party, they think back to their younger years and birthday parties inside the home. You may have had a sleepover with a few girlfriends or invited the entire class to your outside birthday party. While these parties are still popular with children, there are many other venues available for many different party ideas.

Home Parties

The first venue to consider is your home. This option works really well for small family get-togethers or birthday parties. Even if you have a small house, you may still be able to have an outdoor party. Types of parties can include birthdays, holidays, barbecues, cocktail parties and more.

The great thing about these options is that you are in charge and can do whatever you want. However, this also means you will get little to no help and be in charge of all the supplies, making of the food and drinks, along with cleaning house before and after the party.

Block Parties

Invite all your neighbors together to have one big block party bash. Close off the street on your block and allow anyone and everyone to enter and have a great time. These parties are usually great because you can be in charge, but you do have to share the responsibility with others. Consider all the food and drink you will need, along with restroom options. While most people could run back to their home for relief, you may need to rent port-a-potties.

This option takes more planning and requires city permissions.

Restaurants/Bars/Big Venues

Going to a bar or restaurant is a great way to have a party on Long Island, but it can cost more. Tradition and etiquette states that whoever hosts the party and invites the guests is required to pay for everything, so this can become expensive. However, if you don’t want to do much planning and setting up, this could be a perfect option.

Big parties of more than 50 people will require a large venue. You will likely need hotel accommodations and large ballrooms that can handle large crowds.
