Teenagers want to have that perfect closet with all the latest clothing and accessories. Being a teenage girl means a lot of peer pressure and a lot of new experiences. It can be hard to get your daughter what she wants because things cost so much money. However, there are a few things you can do to help get your daughter the perfect wardrobe at a few stores.
Sort and Give Away
The first thing your daughter should do is go through her closet. You can help her with this probably large task. It may be helpful to take everything out of the closet and then try it on and check it out. If it doesn’t fit, it should be donated or sold at a yard sale. If it does fit, but is dirty, dingy or has a lot of holes, it should be tossed or recycled to be a cleaning cloth. Those items that are still clean and whole, that fit, should be put back into the closet. However, first, you two should try and match up outfits and see what else may be needed.
When doing this task, consider accessories, such as purses and belts, along with shoes, as well. If she doesn’t like something anymore, it shouldn’t stay in the closet, but should be given away.
Again, plan a yard sale to make up a little of the money you will need to buy new clothes or donate them to a charity to help others. There are also clothing stores that will buy gently used items, so you may want to consider those, as well.
Lists
Lists can be your best friend. Make a list of everything your daughter needs or wants. Generalized lists will work a lot better than very detailed lists. For example, “two purses” is a lot better than “two name-brand handbags,” because you can choose once at the store. However, creating two lists, one of general and one of specific items, may be beneficial as well, so do what works for you.
Under-things
Start out with undergarments, such as panties, bras, tank tops, socks, camisoles and bandeaus. Let your daughter choose what she wants, as long as it fits your budget and rules.
Outer Clothing
There are many tops and bottoms available, along with dresses, so your daughter shouldn’t have any problem finding things she likes at her favorite stores.
